Individual Psychotherapy
In addition to virtual/phone sessions, I offer nature-based walk and talk psychotherapy — the traditional work of therapy, in a natural setting and incorporating movement. As a client, I found my most profound change and healing after integrating both of these elements. Especially for people who are feeling stuck in therapy — having found insight but are continuing the same old behaviors — this paradigm can be especially helpful.
Many of us have old, unmet needs for safety, belonging, acceptance, and mattering.
I believe our symptoms — our anxiety, depression, emotional reactivity, struggles with relationships, and stuck patterns — are our best attempts at self-regulation, adaptations we learned very young to keep us safe and connected with our caregivers. They're communications from unintegrated parts of ourselves and we can learn to welcome them as guides (sometimes reluctantly, painfully).
We honor both the wisdom of your early-learned survival strategies and your present desire for change.
I conceptualize part of my role as actively attuning for co-regulation. This allows experiences that are individually overwhelming to be held in a co-created relational field. With this space, we can bring the light of conscious attention to areas of suffering, for them to be felt, processed, and released.
