About Me

I love being outside — hiking, swimming, walking, resting, playing, gardening. As someone who grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the joy of the wilderness came to me later in life but feels like a remembering, a homecoming. I have engaged in kinesthetic and contemplative practices for over two decades — these at one time saved my life, and now enrich it immeasurably. I also find healing in parenting my two children, dancing, reading, writing, singing, sharing food, and enjoying community.

I was first licensed as a psychotherapist in New York in 2014 and am currently licensed as an LPC in Texas. I have received training in modalities such as sensorimotor psychotherapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, parts work, polyvagal theory, and interpersonal neurobiology, and am a registered facilitator of the Circle of Security Parenting™ Program.

I come to this work from my own experiences with dysregulation and internal fractures. An important context I have found is acknowledging the internalized shame and isolation that comes from being raised and living in, as bell hooks so succinctly put it, "imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchal culture.” I recognize the deeper needs we all share for community, ceremony, pleasure, connection, and good work, and how those needs being unmet on the macro scale impacts our individual functioning. Understanding this can help shift from self-blaming to a tone of being gentle, reverent, and understanding with our selves, our needs, and our wounds.

I am personally exploring how my identities (among them being a U.S.-born cis white woman)  intersect with our broader cultural landscape and identifying and uprooting ways I have internalized and continue to perpetuate oppressive systems. This is life-long work; my own healing is what led me to become a therapist and I feel privileged to get to share in these intimate explorations.

May all beings be seen, held kindly, and loved. May we all one day surrender to the weight of being healed.
